He got the job!

Eric is now the newest First-Year Associate at a downtown Boise law firm. We're so excited. Eric can already tell that he's going to really enjoy the work environment there - which is a rare thing when it comes to firms. It may not carry as much name-recognition as some of the larger firms that Eric has been talking to, but the fact that it's a smaller boutique firm is also what appeals to us (it's not a "sweatshop firm"). We've heard nothing but great things about this firm. e.g. "One of the best to work for in Boise", great mentoring, reasonable hours, etc.

Speed blogging

I'm low on blogging fuel these days so let's see what I can do with highlights (mostly about Eric b/c, let's face it, he's cooler than I am)...

While in Korea, Eric ate silkworm, snails and live octopus The Saipan job offer for 1.5 years turned into a Guam job offer for 2.5 years. Eric declined. Eric's last official day at the court was on Friday so we had a farewell lunch in his honor at Tony Roma's. Afterward, we celebrated with dinner on the beach (Pacific Islands Club) and then KARAOKE. My first time with Eric, and he's a pro! The best (and boldest) sober Karaoke singer you'll ever meet! Our house was broken into Sun. night/Mon. morning (while we were asleep in the next room). A little unsettling. Fortunately, all they took was Eric's laptop. Ty's wedding is Aug 22. Airfare is over $2000! If, however, we decide to move back to the mainland, the court will cover the cost. So that's the decision we have to make in the next couple of days - to stay on Saipan (after living here for 2 yrs) or return to our homeland. It's been an extremely tough decision. Stay tuned...

Almost Arizona

In a matter of about 3 days Eric learned about, applied for, interviewed for, and was offered a job as a clerk for the Arizona Court of Appeals (in Phoenix). And, we almost said yes. He found out about the job opening through a former law professor, Prof. Mangrum. What a fantastic guy! In the end, however, Eric decided to turn the job down in hopes to maybe step out of the clerkship arena. Eric seems to think our next job destination will either be Singapore or England, but it'll probably be Bismarck, North Dakota...Who knows where we'll be come August of next year!
