3 months

28 January 2013
Scouterific just turned 3 months yesterday! We took her in for her first full sets of vaccines this past Friday, and she did awesome. Only cried for a few seconds. Granted, it was a pretty agonizing wail of a cry, but thankfully, didn't last long. The doctor was pleased with Scout's development; she seems to be hitting all of her milestones. And she's definitely grown! From 6 lbs to now 13 lbs 4 oz! Here's a comparison from her first appointment to the most recent one:

11-8-12 (12 days)
Weight: 5-15 oz (15%)
Height: 18 ¼” (10%)
Head: 32 ½ cm (10%)
1-25-13 (3 mo)
Weight: 13-4 oz (70%)
Height: 22 3/8” (10%)
Head: 38 ½ cm (25%)

I know I shouldn't be taking pictures during church, but is this not the most adorable thing? :)

Feeling all warm & fuzzy

24 January 2013
Lately, I've been thinking that there are so many things to be grateful for. This winter has been abnormally FRIGID, and I breathe a sigh of relief every morning as Eric steps out into the cold to go to work, and I get to stay at home in a nice, warm house. I'm grateful that I get to work from home, but I'm also grateful for a husband who's a great provider and enables me to have more time with baby girl.

Scout woke up at 4am this morning (which, thankfully, is not typical of her), and as I was feeding her, we listened to the freezing rain outside. A couple hours later, after I had snuggled back into bed and was nearly asleep again, I heard our neighbor outside scraping what sounded like 5 inches of ice off of his windshield. Initially, I was annoyed that he was keeping me awake, but then I wondered how HE must feel! I will never take our garage for granted!

I'm grateful for family and loved ones who care about keeping Scout warm and snuggly this winter. Everyone has been so generous, I had to write a blog post. I think I've counted at least 11 blankets that Scout has received (mostly hand-made), and I love them all for different reasons.

This one has got to be the favorite. Not only because it's from Scout's birth mom & birth gma, but it is absolutely adorable and so soft and snuggly. Every night Scout sleeps swaddled in the pink blanket with the butterfly (top pic, also from birth mom and gma), and this blanket on top of that.

Another beauty. My mom made this one, and it was definitely a labor of love. She hadn't done anything like this for years so she had to re-learn everything which makes it even more impressive.

How awesome is this?? Paula C. made this patchwork quilt just a day or 2 before my baby shower!
She saw pictures of the nursery posted on Facebook and actually coordinated my color scheme (see below)! INCREDIBLE!

Another super woman gift. A good family friend made this sweet basket weave stitch blanket
and two winter hats for Scout all in a day or two.
Here's Scout, modeling her cute hat from Kim T. (Love that little tongue!)

These two blankets were gifts from two of my awesome Laurels. And, yes, the one of the left was made by hand! (from Alex B.)
The one on the right is so soft and warm, and the perfect size (from Erica R.). We use it constantly.

This hat and blanket are special because they're both gifts from the Bear River Valley Hospital, where Scout was born.
After spending 4 days there, we really fell in the love with that sweet staff.

I can't wait to tell Scout about the love that went into these thoughtful gifts. I'm sure she'll cherish them for years to come.

I think our friends know us well! :)
Although, Eric may disagree. I'm sure he would argue that Scout's wardrobe is sadly lacking in red.

P.S. Special thanks to Auntie Allison for providing most of this cuteness and ensuring that Scout starts off on the right foot. Bleed blue baby!

Scout Smile Series: Part 1

14 January 2013
Oh my heavens! We're loving this age/stage. We can't get enough of Scout flashing us that sweet gummy smile.

These photos were taken between 2 and 3 months

And another...Because I can't resist a B&W version. :)

Ladies Lunch

12 January 2013
Soon to be tradition. My sister & sister-in-law both have birthdays early in the year so we'll see if we can make this an annual tradition - Ladies lunch out. So far, we've done Olive Garden both times - mostly because our husbands never let us eat there, but maybe next year we'll mix it up and eat somewhere equally girly. Sometimes you just need that quality girl time.

Missing: sis-in-law Robbie. The poor thing is stuck in Hawaii for the next few months. :)
Scout was with us too (to my right), but she got cut out of the picture. :(
The birthday girls!
(this photo and the one below are from our 2011 lunch...apparently, we dropped the ball in 2012))
